My review
★★★★☆ (4/5)
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett is a sweet, beautifully written story about family, love, and the secrets we carry. It's about Lara, a mom who once worked as an actress at the Tom Lake theater, and now she tells her three daughters about her past (including her romance with a famous actor) while they work together on their family cherry farm.
It really hit me how we never truly know our parents' whole story, their dreams, heartbreaks, and lives before we existed. The writing is so pretty, and the cherry farm setting feels so peaceful.
It's not a fast-paced book, but it's the kind that makes you slow down.
Perfect if you love reflective, character-driven stories.
