My review

★★★★★ (5/5)

I started The Correspondent without knowing much about it. The cover appeared on my Instagram feed, I got curious, and decided to pick it up without any expectations.

And honestly, that made the experience even better.

This book completely surprised me.

Told through letters, emails, and different forms of correspondence, the story feels incredibly intimate, raw, and deeply human. There’s something special about reading people’s thoughts in written form. The vulnerability feels stronger somehow. It made me reflect on how writing can sometimes express emotions more honestly than speaking them out loud.

What I loved most about this book was how real the characters felt.

The main character is flawed, makes mistakes, and at times, you may not even agree with her actions. But that’s exactly what made her feel authentic to me. She isn’t written to be perfect or easy to love all the time. Instead, the story allows her to grow naturally, and seeing that emotional growth unfold through the correspondence made the reading experience feel even more personal.

The writing style also deserves praise. Even though the book is composed entirely of letters and messages, it never felt disconnected or difficult to follow. In fact, it made me feel even closer to the characters and their emotions.

This book is emotional without trying too hard, reflective without becoming heavy, and beautifully honest from beginning to end. It's a reminder that people are complicated, relationships are messy, and growth often happens slowly.

A truly unexpected favorite and an easy 5 stars for me.
