My review

★★★★☆ (4/5)

This is a short story about a man named Lucas, who prefers solitude and knows the secret to happiness is avoiding other people.

"All he did was to remove the one thing that makes almost all people unhappy: other people. Whatever they want, the answer is no."

However, Luca's plans for a peaceful life are interrupted by the building's board, who want to know who left a frying pan next to the recycling room.

Soon, he can't help but be drawn into conversations and situations despite all of his reservations. And that's what the story is about, the connections and the unexpected ways happiness can find you.

I’ve read it during my honeymoon, and it was the perfect short story for a day at the beach. This book was only 60 pages long, but was so fun to read and at the same time, held a deeper meaning. It was my first Fredrik Backman’s read, and since that, I’m adding his other books to my TBR!

My fav quote:

"It’s hard because it’s so easy to get in your head that if you are to be happy, you have to be happy exactly all the time. And who in the world has the energy for that?"
