My review
★★★★★ (5/5)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid was my first book by this author, and after finishing it, I immediately wanted to read more of her work.
The novel follows the life story of Evelyn Hugo, a fictional Hollywood icon who decides to finally tell the truth about her glamorous and complicated past. Through a series of interviews, Evelyn reveals the story behind her seven marriages, her rise to fame, the sacrifices she made along the way, and the secrets she has kept for decades.
This book completely lived up to the hype for me. Evelyn’s life is filled with love, ambition, heartbreak, and difficult choices, and the story kept me hooked from beginning to end. Taylor Jenkins Reid has a very engaging writing style that makes the characters feel incredibly real, and it’s easy to become fully immersed in Evelyn’s world.
One of the things that made this book so memorable is the way the story unfolds. The narrative slowly reveals pieces of Evelyn’s past, building toward a powerful and emotional conclusion. The plot twist near the end was particularly impactful, and the ending itself was both beautiful and heartbreaking. It definitely left me in tears.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo became one of my favorite reads and one of my favorite books by Taylor Jenkins Reid so far. It’s a compelling and emotional story that stays with you long after you finish the last page.
I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you’re looking for an immersive read to take with you on holiday.
